Why Choose Futsal?

May 16, 2025

For 99% of the players that come to futsal, their dream is to be a footballer. I'm sure a high percentage of parents share the same dream.

With so many options out there. It is not easy for parents to choose where to put their child.

I recommend looking at academies that have proven success and provide variety to what is already out there. Variety is key to player development. The different surface, ball and conditions of futsal alone provide that and are the reasons why most top pro academies now include futsal as part of their curriculum.

It is important to note that we also have a different ethos in our coaching methods. Our methods come from experiences in Barcelona and Brazil. We don't follow outdated SFA methods that in have failed to get us to a World Cup since 1998.

Here's our ways to optimise player development during Academy sessions, Game Changers and Team sessions:

  • Emphasise a core theme – having a central theme running throughout a session provides clarity to the players (example, individual defence).
  • Incorporate competition – skill development often necessitates repetition. Adding elements of competition is a powerful way of boosting engagement and effort. We have winners and losers.
  • Create game-like scenarios – exposing players to situations found in a match improves their awareness and encourages creativity and problem-solving. The coach won't dictate every move. They are there to provide the scenario and to offer coach guidance and encouragement when required. You are not playing against mannequins or cones, you are playing against players. Game realistic.
  • Effort - We encourage all our players to strive for excellence and play with intensity. Player development flourishes when players challenge their limitations beyond their comfort zone.

Futsal is not easy, it is fast, it is intense and it challenges players technically, physically and mentally in a way football doesn't. This is why over 150 of our players have progressed to pro environments with 15 players going on to represent their nation at football and futsal.

Our sessions and teams also promote our club values: HUMILITY, EFFORT, AMBITION, RESPECT, and TEAMWORK.

These valuable life skills benefit children in all aspects of their lives. While only a small percentage will pursue professional football, we are immensely proud to witness our players' growth and development into responsible adults. A number of our older players have been at futsal for 10 plus years and are part of our first team, B team and u16 squads. Part of the Futsal Escocia family.
