Erin & Jessica Husband Q&A

August 2, 2025

The twins have had a fantastic first full season as professionals with Hearts in the SWPL. They have now established themselves as regular first team players. Erin was also awarded Players Player of the Year and included in the SWPL Team of the Season!!

We caught up with both girls to ask about their journey so far, their ambitions for the future, and how futsal helped their development.

How does it feel to be playing first team football?

It’s amazing to be playing at Hearts first team, we are learning so much from the players and coaches and really feel part of the team.

What are your ambitions for this season?

We want to play as much as possible this season and continue to be part of a Hearts team that can win games against all other league teams, as we did last season.

Where do you want to be in 5 years time?

In 5 years time we want to be playing first team football , maybe down south or abroad.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

The highlight has probably been walking out in the Scottish cup final at Hampden. Playing in the national team’s stadium and starting in such a big game was such an exciting experience that we learned so much from. This moment showed us how the hard work and the extra training paid off and was worth it to make us into the players that walked out onto that pitch.

You have a lot of youth international caps now. How does it feel to represent Scotland?

Playing for and captaining the youth national teams has given us many different learning opportunities and highlights within our careers so far. It’s a special moment when walking out as a Scotland player and we feel privileged everytime we are given the opportunity to do so.

How did futsal help you in your development?

Playing futsal has helped us develop close ball control and spatial awareness. It helped us to understand the game at a faster level and allowed us to make decisions quickly under pressure.

Would you recommend futsal for any aspiring footballer?

We would definitely recommend to younger players that they should play futsal as it would give them fantastic opportunities to gain new skills and learn even more about the game. Futsal provides a fun and exciting opportunity for younger players to work with new people and learn new things.

Did playing football and futsal with boys help your development?

Playing with boys definitely helped us to see the game in a different way and become more physical and aggressive players. It provided a different opportunity than girls football and made us play in a different way.

What advice would you have for any young player looking to become a footballer?

Take advantage of any opportunity that is given to you and make sure to use your coaches and teammates to learn from them and become a better player.

Once again, a terrific insight from the girls. They have adapted extremely well from youth football into the women's game and they have the potential to go and make a good living out of football, to play at a higher level, and to represent Scotland at full international level.

We will be supporting the girls in every step of their journey!!

The success of all these players is not a coincidence. With hard work, the right attitude, and the right environment, you will get results.
