Futsal Escocia - 10th Anniversary

Today marks 10 years since the start of the Futsal Escocia journey, having the confidence to set up a Facebook page, and officially promote futsal coaching sessions.

I had a dream and vision of what I wanted to achieve, but I had no idea how the sessions would be received. It's fair to say that the last 10 years have surpassed all of my expectations.

I set up Futsal Escocia because I believed I could deliver a different style of coaching to what was already out there. I wanted to provide local children with the opportunity to play a sport that has a history of developing some of the best players in world football.

We started with one session a week, growing year on year, and we are now regarded as one of the top futsal academies in the UK and Europe. We now have:

• Over 400 children doing weekly sessions in the Futsal Escocia Academy
• A male pathway from u7 to adult
• A First Team in the SFL Super League
• A B Team in the SFL Edinburgh
• 17 youth teams
• 6 international capped futsal players (4 x Scotland, 1 x England, 1 x Northern Ireland)
• Numerous players capped at u15/u16/u17/u19 age groups at football (all Scotland)
• Over 140 players progressed to pro academies
• 126 teams in our youth winter leagues
• 70 hours of hall hire every week over the winter

To be honest, it hasn't been all smooth sailing. I've made a lot of mistakes, and there have been many times when I've wondered if it's all worth it.

I'm love coaching though and I truly believe in futsal and what we offer. It's so rewarding to see the kids grow as players and people and having success.

Thanks to Kenny, Robert, Linda, Eck, Cathy, Baz, Gayle, Vikki, Fraser, Lewis and all the people that have went beyond a parental role to help out.

Thank you to our Futsal Escocia family, past and present. All the players, coaches, parents and fans, who make this possible week in week out. It wouldn't be possible without you.

We're excited for the next 10 years and can't wait to keep developing our players, the academy, teams, and leagues. We'll keep getting better and better, just like our motto says: 'All about DEVELOPMENT and FUN'!

I have travelled the world to gain more knowledge and experience about the sport and training methods to improve our players, and I will continue to do so.

In the next 10 years, there's ambitions to achieve the following:

• Grow the Academy to 500+ players
• A return of Futsal Ninos (3-5 years)
• Female pathway from youth to adult
• UEFA Champions League Futsal
• Our own futsal hub
• Players making a career out of football and futsal
• Players representing their country at futsal and football
• Developing our coaches and coaches across Scotland
• Developing futsal in Scotland

We have some anniversary events planned for 2025. It would be wonderful to see all the Futsal Escocia family come together to celebrate a joyous 10 years.
