I've been involved in football my whole life, and I've run Futsal Escocia for the past 10 years.
During that time, I've observed a decrease in the amount of time children spend actively engaging with a ball, with more and more time dedicated to screen time.
I believe this has led to a decline in standards, with fewer players demonstrating fundamental skills and exhibiting decreased fitness levels and attention spans.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we adapted by holding Zoom sessions and engaging in fun, at-home ball-handling and fitness sessions. This period yielded noticeable improvements in our players' technical levels. Some progressed from grassroots to pro as a result of the hours they spent with a ball at home during this period.
For clarification, Futsal Escocia functions as a business, and we do not profit from the individual development of our players outsude activities we run. However, this does not mean we do not wish to see our players improve beyond our scheduled sessions.
We kindly request that our players dedicate just 1% or 2% of their day to self-improvement. We will share ways players can improve at home free of charge. Our commitment is to player development, and we will support our Academy players by reinstating free Zoom sessions, reminiscent of our Covid-era practices. We will adjust session times and dates for optimal accessibility.
Who is willing to do extra to develop and improve? Who wants to take their game to the next level?
Regardless of your skill level, there's always potential for growth. Your efforts will be rewarded accordingly.
Come and join us on the journey!!
