Russell's Post Match Thoughts | Dalkeith Thistle | 27/3/24

March 29, 2024

After Wednesday's SFL Edinburgh Defeat to Dalkieth, we sat down with Manager, Russell and here's what he had to say about the game:

"When you play Dalkeith, you always know that you're in a game, and despite us having a lot of chances, they thoroughly deserved their victory.

The boys are disappointed with the last couple of results, and that's a good sign.

The SFL Edinburgh has been fantastic this season and provides our young players with a challenge that they are not getting in grassroots football. The physical challenges and the speed of the game played against experienced men will only help their development.

This is where our pathway comes in. This season, we have introduced 3 x 15 year olds to our squads, and there's more to follow.

We all want to win, but the main objectives for the B and youth teams are to develop the players and to prepare them for the first team and beyond.

The pathway is clear to see, from the Academy to youth teams, the B team, the first team, and then international selection.

We want our players to be ambitious and to recognise the futsal pathway. There's fantastic opportunities in the game.

We have one final league game to play, and we will go out to try and win that. To win the league, we need results to go in our favour."

Full focus is now on our last game in the EFL, next Wednesday against Nerazzurri.
