Team Presentation

March 28, 2025

Thanks to all the parents who attended our Zoom meeting last night (27/03/25).

We have a number of new players in our teams and it is important for everyone to recognise our ethos and values.

CLUB VALUES

Our values transfer between the Academy and Teams (HEART).

Humility - Acts in the correct manner irrespective of the result. Treat others how you'd like to be treated.

Effort - Trying your best is a minimum requirement. Whatever your level or age, giving 100% is possible.

Ambition - We want our players to be ambitious. Players should look to be invited to be selected to play in external matches and tournaments, or up levels when short. First team players should be looking at international recognition.

Respect - Respect your teammates, coaches, opposition and officials. Turn up on time. Make coaches aware if you are unavailable to train or play.

Teamwork - Futsal is a team sport. Our kits have 'the way we work together determines the way we succeed' on the rear. Encourage and support each other through good and bad times.

REGIONAL ACTIVITIES

This is what is included in your monthly fees:

  • Youth Winter Leagues - 15 weeks of matches from November to the end of February
  • 3v3 tournaments at Michael Woods. Every 2 weeks on a Sunday between 4-8pm (1 hour per age group) from the end of April to September
  • Training between the summer and winter seasons
  • U16 Scottish Futsal League
  • B Team SFL Edinburgh & Cup Competitions
  • First Team SFL Super League & Cup Competitions

ADDITIONAL TEAM TRAINING NIGHTS

We are looking to introduce team training nights at Inverkeithing High School on a Friday evening.

They will solely cover tactical elements that are important in futsal.

Training will take place every 2 weeks and allow coaches to work closer with myself and the team.

  • 7-8pm - 2017/18 & 2015/16
  • 8-9pm - 2013/14 & 2011/12

We hope to start these in May and registration will be through ClassForKids.

FUTSAL CAMPS

The camps we have run so far have been a massive benefit to those who have attended.

The next camps are at Dunfermline Learning Campus from the 14th to the 18th of April.

  • 0900-1130 - 2014-17's - https://futsal-escocia.classforkids.io/camp/63
  • 1230-1500 - 2011-13's - https://futsal-escocia.classforkids.io/camp/64

The next camp will cover match analysis, formations, press breaks, defensive shape, set pieces and use of the fly GK over the course of the week.

EXTERNAL MATCHES

With more futsal clubs emerging across the country. We are now playing more matches. These are currently just friendly matches, however, we are in positive discussions to start an u16 national league for season 2025/26. If this is successful, we'd hop to introduce u14 the following year.

We are entering a team in the Scossie Cup for 2011s at Michael Woods on the 4th of May. This will include Australia and other Scottish futsal academies.

During July and August, we will be hosting mini 4 team tournaments at different age groups on Saturdays at Michael Woods.

We are planning to enter the Funchal Cup in Madeira in July 2026. This will be for all age groups. I am heading over in July to check out this years event to see if it is suitable.

We are exploring other national and international events.

EXTERNAL SELECTION PROCESS

Download the TeamFeePay app on your mobile device.

Training and matches will be marked as events on TeamFeePay and parents will mark up their child's availability. Available is a green tick, not available is a red cross. No response will be treated as unavailable but please try to respond.

From the players available, a squad will then be selected for matches. This will be done by myself and the lead coach at each age group.

Selection criteria:

  • Attendance at Academy sessions, team training, camps, 3v3's and matches
  • Effort at all of the above
  • Attitude at all of the above
  • Performance at all of the above
  • Willingness to learn. Are they doing more? Attending other club matches and learning more about futsal
  • Having the new kit

Teams will not be selected just to win matches. You earn the right to play through your own actions.

We understand players in a pro environment have priorities, but that doesn't stop them following the above when they can. Our older players involved with pro clubs, all found a way to fit futsal into their schedule and their scheduleis no different to what the younger ones have right now. Some are still involved, whilst others ask to come back to train during breaks in their football schedule.

EXTERNAL FEES

External matches and tournaments will be an added expense for those involved. It will just be a small fee to cover match fees.

I don't think that it is fair to ask parents of children not playing externally to help fund events they are not involved in.

We try to keep fees as low as possible but £10.99 a month only goes so far.

For international tournaments we will do fundraising and look for sponsorship to help reduce costs of travel.

OVERALL

We are trying to create a club that is open to everyone, irrespective of their race, gender, religion, sexuality, or level of ability.

A club that has clear standards and abides by its philosophy and values.

We want to be successful on and off the court and to create an environment that feels like a futsal family with friendship groups created between players and parents.

In Scotland, the culture is to turn up to training or your match and then leave. We want to change that and to create an environment similar to what I witnessed in Brazil where the parents, coaches and players stayed to watch or arrived early to vocally support different age groups and teams. They had a clear connection to the club instead of being an individual team or in some cases an individual player.

To achieve this requires parents, coaches and players to fully support what we are doing. It also requires a change of mindset.

The club has it's own ambitions of domestic success, UEFA Champions League qualification, and to be the best futsal club in the country.

This is only possible with the support of everyone.

If you would like involved in the teams please let us know. We are looking for a fundraising committee, coaches and just general help with the running of the club.

'The way we work together, determines the way we succeed'.
