THE ACADEMY WEEK AHEAD
This week is DEFENDING week, with a focus on different types of press. Starting positions, communication, organisation and structure are key elements we will look to develop.
We have been doing a lot more ball mastery at the start of sessions for the players to work on away from the court and pitch. There has been a massive difference in those doing just a little bit more by themselves. Ball Mastery develops close control and coordination with both feet. Here's a a few exercises to start with from home:
We encourage our players to have as much contact time with the ball as possible and they can do additional work from home by accessing the 7mlc site on YouTube (we covered some of his ball mastery last week). His content is fantastic and there's a reason why he has nearly 2m followers. It is also free!! You can access it all here:
SUCCESS STORIES
Congratulations to Oliver Currie (2010) in signing for Alloa Athletic. Everyone at Futsal Escocia would like to wish him all the best in his football journey.
Congratulations also goes out to Keir McMeekin who was names in the Scotland u17 squad at just 15. Scotland faces Serbia, Portugal and Italy this week. He has also been training and playing in closed doors matches with the Hearts first team squad. He is another player that is drawing a lot of attention from clubs across the UK.
Congratulations to Amelie Chomczuk who was named in the Scotland u17's women's squad to face Finland later this month.

WHAT'S NEW?
Team Sessions Restructure
These sessions are perfect for players playing in the winter leagues and looking to be involved in external competitions.
We have slightly restructured our Friday night team sessions to align with international age groups. Sessions are every 2nd Friday at the following age groups:
Futsal Niños
Futsal Niños is for 4-6 year olds and it is the perfect place to start your futsal/football journey.
I am delighted to announce that we will be launching a new session between 5-6pm on a Friday at Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre from the start of October. You will be able to book this from the start of September.
We have a fantastic wee group emerging at Inverkeithing and we still have limited number of spaces available in this session. You can register your child here:

Player Registration for Futsal Escocia Teams (new players only)
Our Futsal Escocia Youth teams are open to all Academy players that are doing the weekly sessions. Our summer 3v3's conclude at the end of September and we then focus on the winter leagues that run from the start of November to the end of February. The winter leagues cover 2012-2020 age groups and our 2011s and above will be eligible to play in our u16s with a pathway to our B team and first team.

Academy players have a discounted rate of £10.99 per month (normally £20). Players must register by the middle of September if they want to be included in our winter league squads.
3v3 LEAGUES
It is the final month of our 3v3 leagues with events taking place at Michael Woods on Sunday 7th and Sunday 21st of September. Please update the TeamFeePay with availability.
During October we will create 5v5 teams for the Futsal Escocia Winter Leagues that start in November.

MADEIRA TOURNAMENT 2026
We will be taking teams to the Funchal Cup in Madeira 2026. Players for the tournament are selected based on attendance, effort, attitude, performance and their understanding of futsal from sessions and camps. The tournaments are a far higher standard than winter leagues but will provide the players, coaches and parents with valuable learning points and a greater understanding of futsal. STREET FEET CAMPS
The inflatable pitches are being used at all the top football academies across Europe to provide a street football type environment for players to develop greater technical skills, to encourage creativity, and to be more 1v1 dominant. No other academies offer this in Scotland and we are way ahead of the curve in this area, just as we were with futsal. You can book our November camp here:
