Winter Leagues Update

November 10, 2025

Match Structure

The leagues are currently active, with two weeks of matches already completed. We have received reports of, and I have personally observed, some exciting end to end matches that are highly enjoyable to watch. This will only continue to improve as players and teams adapt to the differences between futsal and football. However, as is often the case, there will also be some high-scoring games that I will continue to monitor. After week 3, teams will also have the opportunity to request to transfer up or down a league which will make things more competitive.

Time Keeping

This presents a significant challenge in managing the leagues, and it requires everyone's cooperation. Last night, some team matches were shortened because earlier matches exceeded their allotted 45 minutes. This situation is not sustainable and can be easily resolved if we all collaborate and adhere to the scheduled times.

While I understand teams may find it inconvenient, it is imperative that we ensure all matches adhere to their scheduled timings. Should a match extend beyond its allotted duration, teams are expected to call time. Consistent adherence to this protocol by all participants will prevent any issues.

Over the past two weeks, I have observed instances where players and coaches have arrived after their scheduled kick-off times. It is the responsibility of each team to ensure they are on time and prepared. Failure to do so will result in them not being able to fully utilise the allocated 45 minutes.

  • Arrive 15 minutes early
  • Sort your team before you enter the court
  • Be prepared to start as soon as you enter
  • Have a short break at half time
  • Have post match team talks and photos outside of the hall.

In an ideal scenario, we would incorporate warm-up periods, a halftime interval, and the presence of a referee. However, this would likely lead to a significant increase in fees, potentially making participation unaffordable for many and thereby substantially decreasing the number of teams involved. For instance, the current fees for our first team are approximately £305 per match.

Rules

Liga 7 and 8 are the only leagues where you can dribble in. Liga 1-6 are kick-ins.

Substitutions: kindly ensure that players have exited the court prior to a substitute entering. I know it isn't easy!! There have been instances where up to nine players were on the court simultaneously. A helpful tip: consider a high-five on the sideline before entry.

Fixture Requests

Please ensure they are completed a week in advance. I typically update requests on a Monday and then make minor adjustments if needed on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

League Awards

A reminder that each league will have a Player of the League and a Fair Play Winner (team). Liga 1 and 2 will be league winners.

Please observe opposing players who stand out to you and teams that demonstrate respect and conduct themselves appropriately.

Parents

So far so good!! Well done.

The only issue reported thus far pertains to chairs being brought into the hall at Beath High School. These chairs present a hazard and a risk to players and should not be taken into the halls. Additionally, children should not be lying on the floor using electronic devices. It puts the child at risk of being kicked or fallen upon.

If anyone has any other issues, please let me know by email.
